The Committee previously held public hearings on Senate bills
that are substantially similar to House bills as noted.  Please
focus your testimony on the differences, if any, between the
House and Senate measures identified below.

HB 2568 HD1      RELATING TO STATE PARKS           ECD, WAM
(SB 2909)  Establishes the State Parks Special Fund.  Transfers
        the unexpended balance of the `aina ho`omalu special
        fund calculated as of the close of the business on
        June 30, 2000, to the credit of the state parks
        special fund.  Appropriates funds from the state parks
        special fund to be expended by the Department of Land
        and Natural Resources for the state parks special
        fund.

HB 2569 HD1      RELATING TO THE COMMERCIAL FISHERIES SPECIAL
FUND    ECD, WAM
(SB 2910)  Makes the Commercial Fisheries Special Fund permanent.

HB 2570 HD1      RELATING TO THE BOATING SPECIAL FUND ECD, WAM
(SB 2911)  Clarifies that the five per cent assessment from the
        boating special fund deposited to the general fund for
        central services expenses shall be limited to five per
        cent of revenues not of debt service.

HB 2152 HD1      RELATING TO HUNTING               ECD, WAM

 
 
        Amends section 183D-4 of the HRS to add definitions
        for "public hunting area."

HB 2753 HD2      RELATING TO OCEAN RECREATION      ECD, WAM
        Imposes a two-year moratorium on the issuance of
        permits for commercial marine mammal watching tours
        along the Waianae coastline.  Requires a study.

HB 2571 HD1      RELATING TO STATE BOATING FACILITIES ECD, WAM
(SB 2912)  Clarifies that leases issued for small boat harbors
        and other boating facility properties may include uses
        other than maritime related activities that complement
        or support the uses within the facility, with the
        revenue due to the State therefrom deposited to the
        boating special fund.  Also allows limited commercial
        vessel activities within Ala Wai and Keehi small boat
        harbors and deletes language added to section 200-9,
        HRS, by Act 266, SLH 1999, which has served its
        purpose.

HB 1947 HD2      RELATING TO FISHERIES             ECD, WLH
(Sim. to   Strictly limits the possession, purchase, sale or
        trade of shark fins.  Exempts vessels
SB 2712)   that do not off-load cargo in the State or its
        territorial waters.

please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the
date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies
needed for submittal.
